I can agree with this. Cats haven’t been bred as purposefully as dogs and have largely not been bred for the same kind of personality traits as dogs…so, they bond with us as their caretakers.
My cats definitely communicate clearly when they think I don’t get it. Aside from their “I meant to do that” look, they have the “Don’t you understand plain cat-lish? We understand english!”
Peek a boo giving me that, “You really are a big stupid human, ya know.” look.

I know exactly what you mean. I’ve always said that my cats don’t think they’re human – they KNOW that I am a cat. Luckily, it seems that I’m a cat that they like 🙂 I tend to think that they have made me their “alpha cat” because they follow me around and always want to snuggle with me. My husband on the other hand is someone who every once in a while is lucky enough to deserve their attention. LOL
Yup… same with my gang. And heaven forbid someone new comes into the house… well, they’re not cats, they don’t deserve attention…. they’re a BIG HUGE THREAT!!!! LOL.
